We're not simply helping someone become a fishing charter captain. We're helping someone take the first step toward an entire career on the water.

The six-pack captain's license is the beginning, not the destination.

Someone might use that license to operate fishing charters, work in recreational boating, pursue private cruising opportunities, or build experience toward more advanced maritime credentials. They might eventually return to maritime school and pursue careers aboard larger commercial vessels, luxury yachts, or even cruise ships.

Those advanced careers require additional training, qualifying sea service, and higher-level credentials, but that's exactly the point: one opportunity can lead to another.

More Than a License. A Future Full of Possibilities.

For some, becoming a captain means running a fishing charter. For others, it means working for a boat rental company, operating private cruises, or gaining the experience necessary to pursue greater opportunities in the maritime industry.

There is no single path to success on the water.

At Lines of Service, we recognize that earning your first captain's license can be the beginning of something much bigger.

Our scholarship initiative is built around one belief: financial limitations should not prevent someone from pursuing the education and credentials that could help change their future.

We're not here to tell you which direction to take. We're here to help open the door so you can discover what's possible.

One opportunity can create a lifetime of possibilities.

What Is a Six-Pack Captain's License?

One License. A World of Opportunities.

A six-pack captain's license, officially known as the U.S. Coast Guard Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) credential, allows qualified individuals to operate certain commercial passenger vessels carrying up to six paying passengers, subject to Coast Guard regulations.

This credential opens the door to professional opportunities throughout the maritime industry, including fishing charters, private cruises, sightseeing tours, diving excursions, and recreational boating operations.

Depending on the license endorsement, captains may operate on Inland Waters, the Great Lakes, or Near Coastal waters.

But earning a six-pack license doesn't mean you have to start your own business or become a fishing charter captain.

For some, it's an opportunity to work for an established boating company. For others, it's the beginning of a lifelong maritime career.

With additional training, qualifying sea service, and advanced credentials, mariners can pursue careers operating larger vessels, including luxury yachts, commercial ships, and cruise ships.

The Lines of Service Captain's License Scholarship

At Lines of Service, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue a future doing something they're passionate about.

Our scholarship program is being developed to help aspiring mariners overcome the financial barriers associated with earning their six-pack captain's license.

We're not here to decide where your journey takes you. We're here to help you take the first step.

Because sometimes one opportunity is all it takes to change someone's future.

You May Already Have the Experience

Many recreational boaters have accumulated years of qualifying experience without realizing it.

Time spent operating personal boats may count toward Coast Guard sea-service requirements when properly documented and verified.

You don't necessarily need previous commercial boating experience to begin pursuing your captain's license.

How Lines of Service Can Help

Our Captain's License Scholarship is being developed to help qualified applicants overcome financial barriers associated with obtaining their professional credentials.

Eligible scholarship assistance may include approved training courses, examinations, certifications, and other required licensing expenses.

You bring the experience and ambition. We want to help provide the opportunity.

Requirements vary by endorsement and individual circumstances. Applicants should verify current eligibility with the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center.
